Seeking for Righteousness

The Personal Blog of Kaimi Wenger

On a lighter topic

The blog’s been all political and judicial discussion thus far, and all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, all work and no play . . .

So, here’s a restaurant review you won’t find in Zagat At least, not all of it.

The ultra-expensive Alain Ducasse restaurant has an eight-star chef and pretty good Zagat scores of 26 (food), 25 (decor) and 27 (service). The average price is a wallet-jarring $162 per person. They even let you pick salted or unsalted butter.

But they haven’t got a clean inspection from the Department of Health. The Department of Health web site lists:

REST, ALAIN DUCASSE, 155 WEST 58 STREET, NY 10019

Inspection Date: 04/02/2002

Violations were cited in the following significant area(s) and

those requiring immediate action were addressed at the time of inspection.

1 Food from unapproved or unknown source, spoiled, adulterated or home canned.

Heh. Looks like $162 just doesn’t buy what it used to.
